10th session of the President’s Council for Economic Affairs held

On Wednesday, March 2, the tenth regular session of the Council for Economic Affairs was held in the office of the President of the Republic. A special guest of the session was the Minister of Finance, Mr Zdravko Marić, who presented in detail the guidelines of the budget for 2016, as well as the projections of the budget for the mid-term period.

The Council shared certain recommendations with the Minister, based on its previous work, as well as its stands, comments and suggestions in relation to the stated budget guidelines. A mutual willingness for cooperation and an open and constructive discussion on key financial and economic issues was also expressed, which represents the continued quality cooperation between the President’s Office and the Croatian Government.

”I am especially pleased with the fact that the Minister Zdravko Marić started his presentation with a remark that it is necessary to free entrepreneurs of the administrative burdens. I believe that the expenditure side of the budget is still neglected which is the key to everything – smart cost cuts combined with de-bureaucratization and lower tax burdens would result in a quick reaction of the real sector and a prompt deficit reduction. The Minister sounded great and now it’s time for him to make some changes” – concluded Davorin Štetner, President of CRANE and an active member of the President’s Council for Economic Affairs.
