TOGETHER TOWARDS A “SMART” ADRIATIC IONIAN MACROREGION
In the organization of ERFC – European Regional Framework for Cooperation and Atlantis Consulting SA (Greece), the “Innovation Investment Forum“ was held from September 24 – 25 on Corfu, within the Smart Inno project, 1°STR /0006, IPA CBC Program. Invited by its project partner, Juraj Dobrila University of Pula, the Croatian Business Angels Network CRANE also participated. The event gathered many stakeholders, who discussed the topics of innovative ecosystems in the Adriatic Ionian macroregion for two days.
Mr Pablo Millan Cantero (European Investment Fund) talked on the topic of innovation funding, while Mr Baybars Altuntas presented EBAN, emphasizing the barriers, opportunities and recommendations for funding innovations in the Adriatic Ionian macroregion. Adrienne Lotos presented the European Crowdfunding Network, while Mag. Dr Gerhard Burian talked about virtual incubation.
Representatives of CRANE, Davorin Štetner (President) and Damir Mujić (Board of Directors), participated in the panel “Business Angels in the Adriatic – Ionian Region,” as well as Jacopo Losso (EBAN), Carlo Asquini (Italian Angels for Growth), Massimo Baroni (Custodi di Successo Business Angels), Enrico Fiore (EBAN Veneto), Nina Mažgon i Branko Drobnak (Business Angels Slovenia), Altin Furtuna (Albania Business Angels Network), Andreas Baresel – Bofinger (HeBAN – Hellenic Business Angels Network and Teofils Bentis (Business Angels Network of Athens Chamber of Commerce).
On the next day, a central discussion was held on the topic of creating the Adriatic Ionian BAN (Business Angels Network) and Innovation Fund for the Adriatic Ionian macroregion. Claudia Baranchini (Friuli Innovazione, Italy) presented the BAN operating model proposition, after which there was a round table “Creating business angels network” and “Angels co-investing with regional structural funds.”
The cooperation between CRANE and the Juraj Dobrila University of Pula started this year in May when the members attended the international scientific – professional conference “European Union Future Perspectives: Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Economic Policy,” within the workshop “Financing Innovative Entrepreneurial Ventures.” Future activities of the two partners were also arranged with the goal of promoting entrepreneurial culture and self-employment of students of the University Of Pula.
