The first concrete results appeared in less than a week after the closing of EBAN Winter University, Europe’s largest conference of business angels. Davorin Štetner, the president of the Croatian business angels network CRANE, had invested in NanoDIY, the startup that won third place at the conference. NanoDIY had also won the audience award and a special award from NOVA TV. Štetner’s share in the project is 10%, and the amount of investment has not been publicly announced. After the conference NanoDIY sparked interested of several investors from Portugal and Denmark.
NanoDIY is a project carried out by Saša Miklošić and Zoran Sušanj from Koprivnica business incubator. “NanoDIY” is a new technology of printing on textiles. Unlike most printing technologies that require a high competence level from the user and a substantial funding to start a printing business, “NanoDIY” requests minimal investments in the technology, it is user friendly even to people without prior graphical knowledge, and the price for printing is sufficiently low. The development of “NanoDIY” project is entering its fourth year of existence. After printing on hundreds of thousands T-shirts, in October of last year “NanoDIY” has been put on the market at the Grafima fair in Belgrade. It has been available in the market for ten months now and it already attracted customers from six European countries. Likewise, more than ninety percent of the production is exported from Croatia.
“I have noticed the boys at the VOOGLE conference in Varaždin in March this year, where I was in the jury which declared them as the startup of the year. Since then, we have been discussing a collaboration, however, I have made my final decision after seeing how Saša and Zoran adopted all of the suggestions and made appearances before the investors at the EBAN Winter University conference. Another major reason is the fact that Saša had had one unsuccessful project and therefore learned important things for the future. I am always repeating how failure is a part of success and that one can learn the most from failed projects! NanoDIY is revolutionary. I believe in the team and look forward to thefurther success! “ said Davorin Štetner, NanoDIY’s investor.
“Davorin won us over with his vision and competence, but he had also created a sense of pride that such a big name is linked with the project. His investment will help us further accelerate our expansion in the market to and introduce our technology to a greater number of users. In upcoming period we will focus on the greater global market penetration and claiming leading positions in certain market sectors of the world.”, said Saša Miklošić, co-founder and director of NanoDIY.
