On Thursday, February 25, a meeting was held in the Croatian Chamber of Economy (HGK), with the presidents of 8 chambers of economy and the representatives of business angels of Croatia, Slovenia, Montenegro and Macedonia. The topic of the meeting was skill improvement of small and medium entrepreneurs in the countries of the European Union and its candidate countries.
At the meeting, special emphasis was put on the influence of business angels in the world of start-ups and entrepreneurship and the importance of continuous cooperation between business angels networks and the chambers of economy. In his presentation “Joint projects for a better future,” Želimir Kramarić, Vice President of HGK, looked back on their cooperation with the Croatian Business Angles Network (CRANE) and announced joint plans for starting an office for start-ups.
Davorin Štetner, President of CRANE, held a lecture on cooperation between the chambers and business angels associations, and included the regional business angels representatives in the discussion. Supporting the initiative with their arrival were Branko Drobnak, President of the Slovenian Business Angels Network, Ivan Jovetić, President of the Montenegrin Business Angels Network and Aleksandar Tasev, a business angel from Macedonia.
“The chambers of economy represent the bloodstream of our system and as such connect all the important economic and entrepreneurial institutions in Croatia and the region. We are glad to have realized an excellent cooperation so far with our colleagues from the Croatian Chamber of Economy, and with this meeting we have opened the door for cooperation on a regional level.” – concluded Davorin Štetner, President of CRANE.
After the meeting, the presidents of the economic chambers and business angels associations visited the President of Croatia, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarović, in order to familiarize her with the plans for the development on a regional level.
The President of the Republic has often given support to entrepreneurs, which is mostly manifested through the work of her Council for Economic Affairs and the constant emphasis on the importance of business angels, start-ups and entrepreneurship.
Last week, the President gave her support to the Croatian Business Angels Network in their candidacy for the host of the biggest European conference of business angels – EBAN Winter University 2016. At the World Business Angels Investment Forum in Istanbul, CRANE was officially named the new host of the conference, and below you can find the invitation that the President of the Republic and the Mayor Milan Bandić sent out to business angels and investors from the region and the world.
