Seventh session of CRANE’s Board of Directors held

On Monday, November 2, 2015, at Ciban family farm in Jastrebarsko, this year’s seventh session of CRANE’s Board of Directors was held, and the main topics were certification of business angels and creating start-up ecosystems in Croatia. The session was attended by Davorin Štetner, President, and Hrvoje Prpić, Saša Cvetojević and Mihovil Barančić, members of CRANE’s Board of Directors.

IMG_6541-minLed by the example of the USA and Great Britain, clear criteria was set for the certification of business angels, in order to single out, with the certificate, quality business angels who will, besides investing, counsel and mentor teams that are only beginning. By certifying business angels, the Croatian Business Angels Network also wants to increase the number of investments, and by cooperating with incubators and accelerators to influence the development of start-up ecosystems.

For a stable development of the start-up scene in Croatia, it is also extremely important to have the start-up ecosystem that will clearly show its first step to everyone who wants to enter the start-up world and that will answer the questions of who to turn to first and what to do next. At the same time, CRANE is working on a program for incubators and development agencies where it will incorporate the best practice from the world incubators and adjust it to our environment.

The President of CRANE – Davorin Štetner emphasized: “It is very important to us to have as many quality projects as possible in order to have more investments, and for that we need an ordered ecosystem on which we are working. Furthermore – by certifying business angels we set clear criteria and prevent deception of young teams at the beginning of their entrepreneurial life.” After the session there was an informal gathering joined by other members of CRANE as well as Mrs Maja Pokrovac, Minister Maras’ advisor, and Mr Marko Jurčić, President’s economic advisor.
