A thematic session about the European single market was held on Friday, July 3 2015, in the building of the Croatian Parliament, where “The Digital Single Market strategy for Europe” was presented. The goal of the session dedicated to the digital single market was to open a discussion about the said Strategy and its expected economic effects.
On July 6 2015, the European Commission published “The Digital Single Market strategy for Europe,” a document which states the main courses of action, along with the key measures it intends to take with the goal of establishing a digital single market.
The goal of the digital single market eliminates the problem of regulatory impediments and unites 28 national markets into one. A completely functional digital single market would benefit our economy with 415 billion EUR annually and would create hundreds of thousands of new jobs.
The adopted Digital Single Market strategy includes 16 initiatives to be carried out by the end of next year, and it’s based on three pillars:
1) better access for consumers and businesses to digital goods and services across Europe
2) creating the right conditions and a level playing field for digital networks and innovative services to flourish
3) maximizing the growth potential of the digital economy
The session was held on the initiative of the Parliament’s European Affairs Committee, and, besides the Members of Parliament, in it participated the representatives of the European Commission, European Parliament, Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs, Ministry of Public Administration, Ministry of Culture, other government bodies, and the representatives of businessmen and institutions among which are the representatives of the Croatian business angels network – Davorin Štetner (president), Saša Cvetojević (Board member) and Dalibor Čvek (CRANE secretary).
“This is one of the most important areas which will define business in the next decade and beyond. CRANE will, as always, actively participate in the suggestions and discussions. European digital market is an opportunity for our companies to operate without limits, and with the near cutting of high roaming costs we are one step closer to better conditions for operating in the European Union.”
– said Davorin Štetner, president of the Croatian business angels network.
