Startup Wednesday: Sandro Mur, cofounder of Bellabeat

Croatian Business Angels Network, in cooperation with the Zagreb Entrepreneurship Incubator, is organizing and invites you to Start-up Wednesday with Sandro Mur, cofounder of Bellabeat, which will be held on October 28, 2015, at 18 in the Zagreb Entrepreneurship Incubator, Remetinečka cesta 7, Zagreb.

Bellabeat is a Croatian start-up that deals with smart jewellery production and records the biggest and fastest business success for a start-up from the Adriatic region so far. In a year and a half of its business they opened offices in Zagreb, California and China, at the moment they have 85 employees and record a constant growth of 30 %. In mid-spring of 2015 they started delivering their products to big American chain stores, and today they are present in over 450 stores across America and Canada, some of which are Target, BestBuy, Apple, Brookstore and others. By the end of the year they plan to expand to 60 countries.

Bellabeat was joined by the former director of operations of Twitter, former financial director of Pixar and the former marketing director of Transferwise.

Many well-known names have already invested in this start-up, such as the famous actress Jessica Alba, Paul Buchheit, the leading programmer of Google’s Gmail, Michael Arrington, the founder of TechCrunch, Nicolas Berggruen, one of the hundred wealthiest people, and Ron Conway, the most well-known investor in the Silicon Valley and one of the first to invest in Google and Paypal.

Bellabeat’s most famous product is Leaf, a smart pendant which was released this year in May and in the first hour 1.3 million Kuna worth of devices was sold. The reason to such a great success is 120,000 pre-orders which are the result of actively working on gathering interested users and optimizing the process.
