With entering the year 2017, Croatian Business Angels Network (CRANE) actively started planning the activities for this year. The first step was to organize the Board meeting and present the proposed action plan, which includes the organization of regular Startup Wednesdays, a CRANE brunch aimed towards public discussion about the changes in the entrepreneurial and investment climate, a collaborative event with Metro Cash & Carry group and many other activities yet to be announced.
The significant part of the meeting was a review of the EBAN Winter University 2016 conference, which was recently held and organized by Croatian Business Angels Network (CRANE). It was concluded that the conference was more than successful and that all aims were fulfilled. A number of investments were agreed upon during the conference and many are still in negotiation process. Over 1,200 participants from 28 countries around the world attended the conference, along with over 210 investors and even 96 startups coming from 14 countries worldwide.
Also, the novelty in CRANE is the initiation of CEE committee, i.e. the association of central-east Europe business angels led by Davorin Štetner, president of CRANE. The board itself agreed to have four meetings a year held on different locations, and by the end of 2017 a visit from the Committee representatives is expected to be in Croatia.
A successful previous year is an excellent platform for ongoing improvement of the activities. The first event organized by CRANE and Metro will be the HoReCa MeetUp that will be held on February 17th in HUB385. The event will bring together some of the most prominent Croatian caterers and hoteliers along with several startups in order to encourage the innovativeness and the digitization within the small and medium-sized enterprises. More about this event will be soon available on our website.
